BESS energy storage system
An industrial Battery Energy Storage System stores electricity from the company's own generation and increases the flexibility and resilience of its energy system.
Energy storage
The 2 MW BESS energy storage system is built on the company’s premises and integrated with its own generation — the solar plants and the Jenbacher CHP unit. The system uses Danfoss inverters.
BESS stores surplus solar generation during the day and discharges it at peak hours, flattens the company's load profile, and improves the quality and reliability of the power supply.
What BESS does
Peak load reduction
The system discharges stored energy during peak consumption hours, reducing grid load and electricity costs.
Frequency regulation
Instant response to grid frequency deviations helps maintain power system stability.
Generation smoothing
BESS compensates for solar generation fluctuations caused by cloud cover, delivering a smooth and predictable output profile.
Imbalance management
Compensating deviations between forecast and actual consumption and generation reduces imbalance costs.
Backup power
In case of external grid outages, the system provides uninterrupted power to the company's critical processes.
Self-consumption optimisation
Surplus daytime solar generation is stored and used in the evening and at night, maximising the use of own energy.
